Uncovered Interview Reveals Shirley Temple Never Put Animal Crackers In Her Soup

Don't look too closely at her hairline!

HOLLYWOOD, CA – Fans of the late Shirley Temple, known for her adorable, timeless songs like “On the Good Ship Lollipop” and “Animal Crackers in My Soup”, were shocked when a never-before-seen interview revealed that the actress had never put animal crackers in her soup.

On the 43rd anniversary of the song’s release, fans around the world came together to watch the unreleased interview and were taken aback by the actress’ quizzical look following the interviewer’s joking question: “So, when’s the last time you put animal crackers in your soup?”

“What are you talking about?” Temple replied, caught off guard by the simple question. She waited as the dumbfounded interviewer asked as his production staff to pull up a clip of the actresses’ famous scene, pointing directly at the bowl of soup the adorable, six-year-old held in her hands. “You know, animal crackers. The things you put in your soup.”

Temple carefully watched her younger self cheerfully singing and dancing, bowl of soup in hand before widening her eyes in realization. “Oh those? Those were props. I didn’t even know animal crackers were real, is that a thing?” Temple peered over the interviewer’s shoulder at what was presumed to be her agent, looking for confirmation that animal crackers were, in fact, a thing.

“You mean to tell me,” the anxious interviewer replied, “that you have never put animal crackers in your soup?” Temple chuckled, taking a drag of her cigarette. “Look, I was six years old. By that time, I had been in the business for four years and I learned to never bring my work home with me. Once you start putting animal crackers in your soup at home, things get tricky. It ruins the movie magic.”

In an attempt to end the conversation on a high note, and to save fans from having the memories of their favorite childhood movies destroyed even further, the interviewer asked the actress how she kept her adorable, blonde locks so clean on set. Temple laughed again. “That was a wig, I’m not a blonde.”
