CAMBRIDGE, MA – Due to amaizeingly high interest and lack of space, the Harvard Community Garden has decided to bale on Farmal. “It was a chard decision,” said event organizer Brock Lee '17.
The idea for the Farmal was planted when Lee and his friend Olive Green '17 realized that mosst final club formals were often exclusive and seedy. “I didn’t carrot all for those parties. Girls get called hoes … I bristled at the idea of attending another one.” said Green. “They were soiled for us, and that stems from final club culture, I think. Weed bean thinking that to get to the root of the problem, we could just hold our own farmal.”
“We were thrilled that the administration wood lettuce do it.” noted Lee. “It didn’t produce a lot of buzz at first, but as word leeked out through the grapevine the event blossomed into this huge thing.”
The difficulties of holding a large outdoor formal, however, pailed in comparison to Lee and Green’s previous projects. According to Lee, “We didn’t have a lot of thyme to make it happen. And Eden though we were working to the same goal, the process had the potential to terrace apart. We both got pretty snap pea at each other sometimes.”
The duo stayed grounded, though, and worked full steam ahead till everything was in place. To trim down attendance, the pair plotted a visual ID scheme for entry. With all the photos yn the sistem, guests were anticipating dressing up, dancing to sick beets, and not leafing until at least 9 p.m., when the event would end.
Administrative concerns started to turnip, however. “When the Ad Board wanted to interseed, we knew we had to squash the whole thing. It was tuft for us, but we decided hedge our bets and nip the situation in the bud.”
At its hayday, the Facebook event had over 4,000 registered attendees. The fact still shocks Green.
“We had no idea we’d Gethsemane people.”
