LOS ANGELES, CA- When asked on the Ellen show who her favorite musician is, Kamala Harris, 54, immediately said it was Lizzo, 31, claiming that she has been her biggest fan since her final year at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. 

“Whenever I felt overwhelmed I would listen to Lizzo. The second a flute solo came on I would feel 100% like that...“b word”... and be ready for another day.” Harris went on to say that “Truth Hurts” was actually the main reason she went into politics, explaining that the line "bling bling, then I solve 'em, that's the goddess in me” made her realize she could change the world if she just put her mind to it. 

Despite a roaring round of applause from the audience, Ellen DeGeneres pushed back against Harris, pointing out that Lizzo was not born until 1988 and would have been physically unable to play the flute. Harris insisted that Lizzo was an active musician at the time, accusing DeGeneres of trying to undermine the brilliance of a toddler prodigy.

“Just because I had a music taste that was ahead of the times doesn’t mean you can doubt her genius ability to produce relatable, powerful music proficiently,” later saying “If any artist has the ability to transcend time and age, it’s Lizzo. Am I right?”

After a second round of applause for the senator, DeGeneres apologized for her insensitivity, before challenging Harris to a presidential dance-off. Harris spent the following two minutes doing the macarena to Drake’s “God’s Plan.”
